Wyl's early life
Wyl, born of a union between a Dwarf and a Troll, was shunned for most of his young life. Both towns refused to let him settle down, calling him an 'Abomination' and 'A freak of nature'. He was forced to live in the no-man's-land between the two towns, cared for by a human mother whose name he never found out.
All the time spent in that small cottage, Wyl never truly knew why she had taken him in, for Humans are usually more judgmental than other races. His young life was spent cleaning, wandering around the cottage's small grounds and looking with fascination at the huge mountains far off in the distance. His mother noticed the fascination he had with all things of the Earth, and when he hit Twenty, his adopted mother sent him to a School of sorts hidden in the forest.
Wyl's old cottage. Abandoned for over twenty years
This 'School' knew of his existence, his heritage and above all his potential long before his 20th birthday. From the moment he walked through that School's doors he knew he would leave for another twenty years. During those two decades, Wyl was taught about the world, its city's, the multitude of different races, how to live in society and above all else, how to manipulate, shape and call to his bidding the essences and power of the Earth.
Those twenty years of study, drills and tests left him with a basic understanding of social life, and formed the groundwork of the Mastery he was yet to obtain.Because of his heritage, Wyl aged physically slower than most other races apart from the elves. When he turned forty-one, he left the still mysterious School and traveled, stumbling across the town of Degolburg.
He made this town his home, setting out on a multitude of explorations and makeshift adventures. For the next five years, he was happily settled, and his influence over the Earth had increased dramatically, to the point when he had finally become a master of his Element. But this knowledge was bought at great suffering, he was adventuring through an icy mountain range, on an errand to further Enchant his weapon, the Battle-Axe he 'graduated' with. He was ambushed by monster known as IceHunters, they attacked and savaged him and he was left laying in the snow, his blood pooling around him from deep cuts and gashes.
He was found by an old man, who lived in a cave in the side of one of the mountains. He cleaned and bound Wyl's wounds and while he was recovering, taught him the final secrets of the Earth, thus making him an Earth Master.
He lives by the Maxim: It's better to die on your feet, than live on your knees.
Wyl's Personality: How it came to be as it is
Many who have traveled or been around Wyl, would have noticed the many different sides he has. One day he's caring, considerate, and generally nice. The next he can be completely indifferent, or oddly vicious. All sides of him, both good and otherwise are in essence the same. Confused?
During his two-decade long 'education' at the School, he was taught how to 'shift' between the different sides of his personality, making him both unpredictable and completely confusing. To make a potently long story short, he did what all students do.... He learned until his head hurt. This 'hurt' was not from the extensive study, nor the strict and unyielding schedule of his education. He reached the point, where the Majority of his 'personality control' bent beyond normal standards, leaving him caught in a content shift between his may faces from one day to the next.
This 'break' was caused by the reasoning that all sides of a person are exactly the same, the same base model, just influenced in a different way.
For the large part, he has managed to exert some control of his unpredictable personalty, but as many people already know, his is still subject to a 'shift' in personality every so often.
